Our return to Ethiopia

In November 2022, the Orbis Ireland team returned to Ethiopia. And it was incredible to be back to join the Great Ethiopian Run and witness the development of the Orbis project.

Hospital Based Training in Ethiopia

We would like to introduce you to two of our Board Members – Donal Brosnahan and Tony McAleer. Additional to their role as board members, they are members of the Orbis Volunteer Faculty. In November they spent a week with Orbis Ethiopia’s Country Director - Alemayehu Sisay - at Menelik Hospital in Addis Ababa teaching and training local eye teams.

Teshager’s Future Looked Bleak. Now He’s Starting School!

Teshager never got up in the morning like other children in his town. He didn’t play with other kids or go to school either. The pain in his eyes and not being able to see well was too much for the six-year-old boy to bear. For Teshager and his family, their future would be a challenge! That was until our teams in Ethiopia saved his vision.
