Orbis Ireland's Focus on Ethiopia
We believe nobody should be blind from avoidable causes, and we want everybody to be able to access eye care. Since 2007, Orbis Ireland has been dedicated to a comprehensive eye care project in southern Ethiopia, addressing the leading causes of avoidable blindness (trachoma, cataract, and refractive error) in a region with over 3.4 million people.

Your participation in Eye Care for All will not only support the prevention of blindness or vision impairment but also offer an opportunity for your practice to add value to your business, gain great publicity and help you fulfil your corporate social responsibility objectives.
Ways to Participate
Raise Awareness on social media
On World Sight Day, show your support for Eye Care for All by running a competition on Instagram or Facebook to engage with your customers and promote the cause. Ask your customers to post their favourite sights and tag you and Orbis Ireland with the hashtag #WorldSightDay. To incentivise participation, offer discounts on eye exams or eyewear for the winner. In addition, we will provide engaging content to share on your social media channels
Host a Donation Day
On World Sight Day, to support Eye Care for All, commit to donating a portion of the cost of eye exams or a percentage of frames sold. Or ask customers to donate to Orbis. We can provide a donation box and flyers for easy contributions.
Host an Eye Care for All Party
Host an Eye Care for All party at your optician on World Sight Day. This is a great way to engage your staff and customers while raising money for Orbis. We will provide balloons, flyers, donation boxes - everything you need to throw a great party.

Gill Opticians, an independent optician in Dalkey for 45 years, is supporting the Orbis Eye Care for All Campaign this World Sight Day by donating €15 from every pair of glasses sold in October.
Through supporting Orbis, Gill Opticians will help transform lives by preventing and treating avoidable blindness and vision loss in Ethiopia.
Progressive Vision
Progressive Vision, a multi-disciplinary private eye clinic located in Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford, is supporting Orbis by collecting and matching donations throughout October.
Through supporting Orbis, Progressive will help transform lives by preventing and treating avoidable blindness and vision loss in Ethiopia.
