Amseselech's dedication extends beyond the classroom as she leads the school’s extracurricular activities, especially the School Eye Club. Every year, Amseselech recruits new members for the group.
Students from all grades are encouraged to join voluntarily, with 7th and 8th graders often taking the lead in most activities. “The members usually meet during breaks or after school. They put on shows and plays discussing trachoma and other eye health issues and help classmates struggling with sight issues,” she explains.
As one of the few extracurricular activities, the School Eye Club keeps children motivated and excited about school. “In my fifteen years of teaching at this school, I have seen the number of children dropping out or staying behind significantly dwindle. The eye club plays an important role in that. We thank Orbis for all their support, including helping students with refractive errors” Amseselech proudly mentions.
