Gebre has always been a dedicated provider for his family. For years, he ran a small business selling beautiful traditional fabrics used to create local dresses and scarves—work that connected him to his community and heritage.
In September 2020, Gebre began to lose his sight, which made continuing his work impossible. With a strong sense of responsibility for his family, especially his wife and two children (out of seven) still living at home, he turned to farming to make ends meet. It was a tough transition, but Gebre didn’t give up—he was determined to keep moving forward.
