Orbis Ireland is a small affiliate office of Orbis International – an international sight-saving charity working to eliminate avoidable blindness. Orbis Ireland seeks to recruit an Events and Fundraising Manager to manage the organisation of Orbis Ireland’s large portfolio of events and initiatives.

This includes managing the recruitment and logistics of all events; stewarding participants; and helping to raise the awareness of Orbis through effective PR and marketing surrounding our calendar of events and initiatives.


REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Development Director and liaises with Orbis Ireland staff members and board members in Orbis Ireland and global offices

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and execute Orbis Ireland’s annual fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Develop fundraising initiatives to maximize profitability.
  • Recruit and steward individual and corporate teams for Orbis events and initiatives such as the Great Ethiopian Run
  • Build strong relationships with current individual and corporate supporters.
  • Assist with the promotion of the Orbis brand and increase visibility through effective PR and marketing activities surrounding fundraising events
  • Keep media channels up to date, especially surrounding Orbis’ calander of events and initiatives
  • Manage the events income and expenditure to ensure it adheres to the set budget.
  • Work with the Development Director to create new opportunities in line with the annual business plan and budget.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent administration skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft word, outlook and excel and can work on their own initiative.
  • Ideally the successful candidate will have a desire to work and develop within the not-for-profit industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three years’ experience in a fundraising or events role
  • Previous experience in the not for profit industry
  • It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent administration skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft word, outlook and excel.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work with limited staff and therefore work on own initiative
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills: ability to effectively execute detail-oriented tasks with the appropriate sense of urgency and priority.
  • Experience of managing events.
  • Experience of building relationships with individuals and corporate supporters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, with changing priorities and multiple projects.
  • The ability to function with limited staff support and an appreciation and understanding of the benefits and challenges of working within a multi-affiliate international organisation.
  • Ideally the successful candidate will have a desire to work and develop within the not-for-profit industry.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office environment.
  • The position is full-time (40hrs per week). Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
  • Travel essential, including an annual trip to Ethiopia for Orbis Ireland’s participation in the Great Ethiopian Run. Possible travel to other Orbis offices globally.
  • Attendance at all Orbis Ireland events is essential. Events often occur after normal work hours and/or on weekends.

Salary

€30,000 - €32,000 (Dependent on experience)
