Have you donated to the Orbis in the last four years? If so, a moment of your time could make a big difference for someone living with vision loss—without any extra cost to you.

Did you know you can allow Orbis to claim 44.9% in tax back on your donations of over €250 at no cost to you? That’s an additional €112.25 on top of a €250 donation. All you need to do is complete and return the CHY tax-back form so we can claim the tax back from the Revenue Commissioners.

How Does It Work?

By completing a CHY form, you can unlock much-needed income, which could train eye care professionals, fund sight-saving surgery, or deliver of a range of services that will improve the lives of people living with avoidable vision loss. Please complete either of the forms below.

CHY3 Form - Enduring Certificate valid for a period of 5 years.
CHY4 Form - Annual Certificate valid for a period of one year

Is my donation eligible?

Your donations are eligible if:

you have donated €250 or more to Orbis in a calendar year while resident in Ireland.
you paid income tax during the year in question.
or you are retired and have a pension, investment, or assets that you paid income tax or capital gains on
or you are self-employed/self-assessed,
or you are jointly assessed for tax with your tax-paying spouse.

How much will my donation be worth?

Your donation will be wort an additional 44.93%. So if you donate €250, we can claim €122.33 tax back from revenue. Meaning your original donation is worth €362.33 to Orbis. You calculate the full value of your charitable donation here: Charity Tax Back Scheme | Charitable Donation Scheme.

Will my information remain confidential?

Your details will remain completely confidential. When you return the signed form to Orbis, we will forward it to the Revenue Commissioners. We store your tax form information securely and only for the purpose of obtaining tax rebates. We do not receive any information on individual taxpayers.

Does it affect the tax I pay?

No. It won't cost you anything or affect your tax status in any way.

What if I donate to more than one charity?

It doesn’t matter if you have given to other charities as well. You can send in the tax form to each charity. All charities can claim separately for donations you’ve made.

How long is the CHY3 form valid?

The CHY3 form is valid for five years. This means that Orbis will securely store your form for five years and, for each year that you donate €250 or more, we can claim tax back on your donation from Revenue. Only you can set these tax funds free – without your signature the unclaimed money will never get the chance to help.
