Scenic Cycle Challenge 2016
On Sunday 10th April 2016 Orbis Ireland, kindly sponsored by Four Star Pizza, teamed up with the Kerry Crusaders Cycling Club to take on The Scenic Cycle Challenge. Participants cycled either a 100km or 60km route on the day through undulating landscapes and winding country roads that began and ended in Listowel.
Over 180 brave cyclists turned out last Sunday, despite the horrific weather conditions, raising over €5,000 for our sight-saving projects in southern Ethiopia.
With thanks to everyone involved, especially all of our cyclists who made it on the day, everyone who donated and the all-important organisers, Kerry Crusaders Cycling Club, who pulled off a fantastic event.
A sight-saving surgery costs just €6 so your support will have an enormous impact on the lives of those living in the poorest regions of Ethiopia. Orbis' mission is to eliminate trachoma, a blinding and life destroying disease, from a region of 2 million people in Ethiopia. Orbis train and teach local healthcare workers to perform surgeries to reverse the affects of trachoma, distribute antibiotics, educate communities on facial cleanliness and improve sanitation and access to clean water.
